Knee bolster, which is design to absorb crash energy, is expected to decelerate drivers/passengers pushing their knees strong and tenderly enough.
To achieve this requirement, to get to know the accurate force - displacement property is very important. Here, HYCRASH was adopted to calculate residual strain and thickness distribution before the strength analysis. It can be seen that the strength analysis with HYCRASH has got much higher correlation with the test.
